So far along with this one I have seen one pretending to be a Jackass ad and another trying to look like a Paranormal Activity ad. The fact that they are masquerading around as other movies I do not mind or look down upon.
Firstly I will add I was never a three stooges fan, a few of the classic episodes had clever moments but for the most part it was not my kind of humor. Staying true to the predecessor this new movie also relies on the same comedic methods. Although this is not my cup of tea it is not what rubs me the wrong way. The primary issue I have is I just feel as though the inclusion of nuns is somewhat politically incorrect. I know there are other movies such as Sex Drive which featured Amish people but that was a rated R movie for a much older age of viewer. This is aimed primarily at the elementary school age child who is much more impressionable. Also going along the lines of a young impressionable audience the comedic "violence" is at a much higher level then just hammers or ladders being hit on heads. In their adds it seems to push it to the limit.
The first scene is where they decide to jump off of a roof with a fire hose which does not hold their weight and strikes a bystander and it would seem breaks his back. The second is where a bell being raised into a bell toqer goes flying and strike a nun in the head. All of these acts are played off quite nonchalantly and everyone goes along happily with no rel negative results.(yes the man was in a cast but they immediately break out into dynamite jokes while looking at the full body cast with no sign of remorse)In real life the Stooges, the man, and the nun most would all be dead from impact with ground, broken back/concussion injuries, and broken neck/bleeding out respectively. There was also the scene with the woman who is obviously a nun but is a very attractive and minimal swimsuit which is not to an extreme but for a children's movie it seems quite odd to insert a religious person in such a wardrobe. The last which makes no sense because I doubt many children watch Jersey Shore who this movie is aimed at and it is just unneeded to have in the movie.(I am basing some of these assumptions off my step-brother and his friends, who are fans of the original Stooges, reactions to the ad they saw)
Slightly agree with this reaction of the ad
Which seems quite a lot like all of the uproar that Michael Bay cause when it was announced that “When you see this movie, kids are going to believe one day these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable.” I dunno but I think it is pushing it a bit when the race of the character is stated in the title itself. Instead of..
